Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill. was Prime Minister from 1940-1945 and again in 1951-1955.He led Britain to victory in the second world war. Churchill is widely considered to be one of the 20th century most significant figures, and still today remains popular in the UK and western world as a victorious wartime leader.
He won a Nobel Prize in literature and certainly had a way with words. On my embroidery was one of his most famous during the battle of Britain. ' Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.
When he died 24th January 1965 aged 90 he was given a state funeral and his resting place is St Martins church Bladon.

During World war 1, trenches were dirty, smelly, wet, riddled with rats, so full of diseases, like cholera and trench foot. The open space between opposing trenches became known as 'No Man's Land'

Current Projects / Tutankhamun
« on: May 12, 2018, 03:28:56 AM »

Tutankhamun was and Egyptian pharaoh of the 18th dynasty 1332-1323 BC. was first called Tutankhaten (living image of Aten) . Most famous as the boy king and the fact that his tomb is the only  burial place of a pharaoh found intact. The tomb was discovered in 1922 by Howard Carter, funded by Lord Carnarvon. The news of the discovery of the tomb became worldwide press and still remains an amazing once in a life time discovery.
He became king from the age of nine and eventually took his half sister Ankhesenamun as his wife. Sadly two of his daughter were in his tomb with him. One was born 5-6 months prematurely and the other was full term of 9 months.
There is still research being done today whether he was murdered or died from injury at the young age of 18ish.
